Biography
Dr Richard Fuchs is a Principal Scientist and food safety specialist at the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich at Medway. He is currently Programme Leader for the MSc Food Safety and Quality Management. He has over 30 years of international experience in research, teaching and training where he has designed and delivered numerous courses, and consultancy work. He also spent time as Head of Programme at the International Foundation for Science in Sweden. He has worked with small food companies to implement food safety systems, including HACCP, Safer Food Better Business and meeting the requirements of the BRC Food Safety Standard. He has designed microbiology testing laboratories and has assisted them in meeting the requirements of ISO 17025. His research interests have focused on Listeria monocytogenes in foods, traditional food fermentations and food safety management systems.
